CLIPPING FROM MARY TILTON ACKLEY’S PHOTO ALBUM

Aaron TILTON was born in Olive township near Haga, Noble County, Ohio Oct. 13, 1847, the youngest of seven sons and four daughters born to Davis and Mary TILTON.  He was only four months old when his father died and after growing to manhood remained with his widowed mother to whom he was always devoted.  When twenty-four years old his brother John having taken charge of the home farm he went west and remained twenty-six years.  Five years ago he returned paralyzed and has been almost entirely helpless since.  During these latter years he had had the constant attention of his sister, Mary and for two and one-half years had made his home with his sister, Mrs. HUTCHINS.  In all his severe afflictions he was ever patient and submissive.  Some years ago he became interested in his soul’s welfare and gave evidence of a change of hearts, but being physically helpless did not unite with any church though more than once expressing a desire to do so if only able to attend divine service.  Of the large family of brothers and sisters of which he was a member, only three remain to mourn his departure, Mrs. John HUTCHINS, Miss Mary TILTON and Davis B. TILTON in Oklahoma.  Besides these there are many relatives and friends in this neighborhood.  Death came suddenly and peacefully Friday night at 11:30 Dec. 12, after a day during which he had exhibited more strength than for some days, being able to walk out in the yard several time without assistance.  “Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.”  Funeral at the home of Mr. John HUTCHINS, Dec. 14, 1902, conducted by Rev. Dr. S.F. ROSS, assisted by Rev. A.K. McCALL of the Licking Baptist Church of Hebron, O.  Interment at the TILTON cemetery.
